The 800 is Meridian's flagship DVD player, based on a professional rack-based design to allow additional modules to be added at a later date to provide further inputs, or cater for any audio and video formats that may be developed in the future.

Meridian commissioned Human-Computer Interface to develop the system of on-screen displays for the 800, using distinctive icons and a specially designed character set consistent with other aspects of the product’s design.
